Tree Removal on Private Property

Trees can sometimes be significant feature in a landscape contributing to the qualities of a locality, which make it special, or of benefit to a specific area or the community as a whole. These benefits may be of a visual, cultural or environmental significance.

To ensue that these benefits are protected, there are provisions with the Planning Scheme which stipulate that the removal, lopping or wilfully destroying of trees may require the prior approval of Council.

Vegetation planting, clearing or modification may require approval - see clause 6.3 of the Northern Midlands Interim Planning Scheme.  If in doubt please contact the Planning Department for clarification on (03) 6397 7303.
