Council's Sports Centre at 8 Burghley Street Longford has something for everyone seeking to improve their health and well-being through exercise. The Centre comprises a full-size stadium, well-equipped gymnasium, and 2 squash courts. Programs running in the gym include


  • Living Longer, Living Stronger daytime classes cater for participants aged over 45 years. Each participant has their own personalised program that enables them to increase their strength, flexibility and maintain/improve balance and coordination
  • Circuit classes in the early evening
  • Gym members can workout anytime between 6am - 11pm 7 days per week, with each having a personalised gym program prepared free of charge by our Personal Trainer.


The squash courts are available for hire after 4pm Monday-Wednesday. The Squash club plays Thursday evenings, and the juniors play Thursday after school. New members are always welcomed.

The stadium hosts a variety of activities including an afterschool funtime program, social badminton, junior soccer and netball, social netball, and a Friday evening Youth program. It is increasingly being used as a training centre for state basketball and netball teams.

The Centre Supervisor, Annette French, is at the centre Monday-Thursday 4pm - 7.30-8pm and welcomes enquiries about joining any of the centre programs. Annette can be contacted at the Centre on ph 63 911 055.
