Early Childhood Educator

The Northern Midlands Council is seeking to recruit a suitably experienced and qualified Early Childhood Educator to fill a part-time maternity leave contract (up to 20 hours per week) at the Midlands Rural and Remote Childcare Service, located at Perth and/or Cressy in Tasmania. Whilst this is initially a maternity leave cover, there may be an opportunity for ongoing work, after the six month period.
Reporting to the Childcare Director, the successful applicants will provide support and care for children under the centre’s responsibility, in accordance with children’s individual development plans, centre policy and relevant legislation.
To be considered for these positions, applicants must hold a Diploma qualification, a working with Children Safety Clearance and preferably hold a current First Aid Certificate. Applicants will also have previous experience working in a similar position within a childcare service. Applicants will have excellent communication skills, including active listening skills, a sound understanding of the health and safety risks involved in working with children and be able to demonstrate sensitivity, patience and kindness.
Remuneration and terms and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the Northern Midlands Council Enterprise Agreement 2016 – 2019.
