Planning Officer / Graduate Planner

The Northern Midlands Council, an Employer of Choice and one of the largest and most diverse municipalities in Tasmania, is seeking to appoint a part time Planner to join the Community & Development team based at Longford.
The role will see you assessing planning applications and making recommendations on the same; providing responses to planning related enquiries; providing excellent customer service; assisting with advertising of planning items and preparation of briefs and reports for internal and external use.
For your application to be considered, you will have completed tertiary qualifications in statutory planning and have a solid understanding of the procedures and requirements of the planning process, as well as knowledge and understanding of the legislative frameworks that apply within Tasmania.
You will have excellent communication skills (verbal and written), the ability to prioritise your time and workload, whilst working on multiple tasks concurrently and meeting deadlines. Similarly, you will have the ability to provide assistance and advice to members of the public in areas relating to planning processes and be a proficient user of the Microsoft Office suite.
This position will be offered on a part-time basis, working two days per week and the terms and conditions of employment, including salary will be negotiated with the successful applicant, in accordance with the Northern Midlands Council Enterprise Agreement.
